What is interpreting?
Interpreting is the process of rendering a spoken text in another language, using the spoken word.
What type of interpreting do you need?
Simultaneous interpreting: carried out from a booth or whispering directly for one/two people. Translators usually work into their mother tongue. If there are only two languages, the translator may be asked to work into and from both languages. Consecutive interpreting: the speaker pauses after each sentence or phrase in order to allow the interpreter to translate. Usually the interpreter will be taking notes in order to be able to render the complete message.
For what sort of activity do you need an interpreter?
Conference: assistance of delegates attending national and international conferences, meetings and informal gatherings
Ad-hoc meetings: assistance of people who are not fluent in the official language of local public services (legal, health, education, social), as well as police and court interpreting, telephone interpreting
